Name of Disability: Amyloid Neuropathy
Type of assistance: picking up dropped objects, walking assistance, taking off and putting on clothes, opening and closing doors, bringing drinks from the refrigerator
Due to progressive neuropathy, my body function is declining year by year. I wished to have a service dog that would assist my daily life, and through discussing with my family and doctor, I have started my life with a service dog. When I met my service dog for the first time, I was so delighted, my eyes almost filled up with tears thinking, “Whatever I go through from now on, my service dog will go through it with me”. I was worried about my constant changes in condition. It is strange though; through talking to my service dog (like saying “Hold on, I’ll get your food soon,”) to a joyful dog wagging its tail every morning; I’ve become less bedridden.
